Lets Get Digging

We are currently looking for volunteers  to help us set up the property and help us organise our open day  We are also looking for long-term volunteers to work with us once the Centre opens.  We can offer training and lunch in return.  Why not apply today by completing our on-line application.

Our May Volunteer Day
Finally, the day arrived and we started to build the first paddock.  It really was a glorious day too, the sun shone down from dawn until dusk.   We had a great turnout throughout the day with plenty of new volunteers joining us.  Our youngest worker was only 4 years old but he worked his little socks off and was his grandads pride and joy throughout the day.

It wasn't all horse poo and wellies though,  we had a few diva's in their high heels and glam rock gear.  Cathrine provided the model poses too.  We shared a picnic for lunch and the local press photographer came and took photo's of us for the Stockport Express (3rd June 2010 edition,  page 23).

We were very pleased to hear that our project "Building the ARC" has been chosen as an Action Earth Project.
To celebrate we held a volunteer day to create a paddock and a shelter for our new alpaca's.
The weather was wonderful and we were pleased that we had plenty of volunteers, young and old.
Many thanks to Guy Salmon (Stockport) Land Rover Dealers who sent volunteers to help us.  Also to Councillor Margaret Mclay and Andrew Stunnell MP for providing their help and support.
A great way to help us is by having a corporate volunteer day and Business in the Community provided us with 50 willing volunteers from DWF and GMYN.  We had a great day (see our summer newsletter for full story)  and produced flat and raised vegetable beds for our disabled participants to use.
